The Club operates a training scheme designed to bring the novice flyer to a state of competence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content\">The Club\u00a0allocates an experienced tutor who will take the new pilot through everything that is needed including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"content\">Checking new models;<\/li>\n<li>Set-up and trim;<\/li>\n<li>Engine operation;<\/li>\n<li>Safety checks; and<\/li>\n<li>Flying tuition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instruction will preferably be given on the pupil&#8217;s own model, but in some circumstances flying tuition will be given on the Club&#8217;s training aircraft &#8211; the &#8216;Club Tub&#8217;. It&#8217;s powered with an SC46A IC glow engine<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are\u00a03 <a title=\"BMFA Achievement Schemes\" href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=318\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">proficiency standards<\/span><\/a> recognised by the British Model Flying Association (BMFA):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Basic Proficiency Certificates provide a measure of competence for pilots operating fixed and rotary wing aircraft fitted with stabilisation technologies.<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;A&#8221; certificate is awarded by one of the Club&#8217;s examiners when the student has demonstrated\u00a0their ability to operate and fly the aircraft (fixed and rotary wing aircraft without stabilisation technologies) to a satisfactory standard and\u00a0has a reasonable knowledge of the BMFA safety code.<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;B&#8221; certificate is awarded by one of the Club&#8217;s examiners when the student has demonstrated\u00a0their ability to operate and fly the aircraft (fixed and rotary wing aircraft without stabilisation technologies) to a higher\u00a0standard and\u00a0has a higher\u00a0knowledge of the BMFA safety code.<br \/>\nNOTE: There is no charge for the tests.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div id=\"attachment_497\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Flight_line_training.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-497\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-497\" src=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Flight_line_training-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Trainee and instructor working together using the clubs 'buddy box' system\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Flight_line_training-300x201.jpg 300w, http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Flight_line_training-250x168.jpg 250w, http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Flight_line_training.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-497\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trainee and instructor working together using the clubs &#8216;buddy box&#8217; system<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It is a Club rule that no person is permitted to fly unsupervised unless they are in possession of at least a\u00a0valid <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=318\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Basic Proficiency Certificate<\/a><\/span>\u00a0or an &#8220;<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a style=\"color: #000080;\" title=\"BMFA Achievement Schemes\" href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=318\">A&#8221; certificate<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> <a style=\"color: #000080;\" title=\"BMFA Achievement Schemes\" href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=318\">&#8220;B&#8221; certificate<\/a> <\/span>is needed by a person who wishes to fly at public displays or in competitions. The <span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" title=\"BMFA Achievement Schemes\" href=\"http:\/\/brcmac.org.uk\/wp\/?page_id=318\">B&#8221; certificate<\/a> <\/span>demands a greater precision of flying and a competence in executing designated aerobatic manoeuvres .
